Waiving/Releasing a player:
Any player under contract may be placed on waivers ("waived") at any time. If a player is waived, any team may claim him within 24 hours. If more than one team claims the player from waivers, the team with the best waiver priority wins the player.
If a team claims a player off waivers and has a viable claim as described above, his current team (the "waiving team") may choose one of the following options:
1. arrange a trade with the claiming team for that player within 1 day after the waiver expires; or
2. rescind the request within 1 day after the waiver expires and keep the player on its major league roster, effectively canceling the waiver; or
3. do nothing and allow the claiming team to assume the player's existing contract.
If a player is claimed and the waiving team exercises its rescission option (option 2), the waiving team may not use the option again for that player in that season. If a rescinded player is traded, the acquiring team will still have the option to rescind.
When you waive or release a player that is above the 130/50 threshold and they are not claimed by another team, they will go to your minor league system. He will still carry his full salary and still count against your cap.
If you wish to buyout a player after he passes waivers, you need to post that in the buyout thread.
Waiver priority will start off the league year based on the prior year standings. Once you claim a player and you win that player, you will go to the back of the order. You must put in a claim and if you win that player, then you will pick up the FULL contract that the player was assigned.
Waiver order will reset at the end of each year and will be reverse order of that year's standings. The waiver order will start from the date after the championship matchup ends and will run through the beginning of the next season.
When you win a player, you can not demote him to your minors. If you wish to do that, you must also go through the waiver system.
Players must clear waivers before a team is allowed to send them to their minor league squad. Therefore, teams are not allowed to post a waiver move and instantly move them to their minor league squad.
A player may be sent down to the minors no more than 3 times in one year. This will reset at the beginning of each league year.
Off-Season:
Waiver rules will stay the same during the off-season except that the player will be on waivers for 72 hours instead of 24.
